Inquiry about using this with ECS

Open crisarceramos opened this issue 8 years ago • 6 comments

Hi @maxfields2000 I'm so thankful for this tutorial. I just a few inquiry. Is it possible to deploy this to ECS? Also if i use this for Production what would you recommend changing?

Thanks! (Newbie for Jenkins and Docker)

It should work on ECS but you migh thave to make changes (I've never tried to deploy to ECS). If using for production, seriously consider removing the data volume that stores the jenkins data and instead mount that directory from a live host. While you can make it work with the data volume it is particularly tricky to backup.

I'm not sure how mounting the data into the jenkins master container would work on ECS.

@SalahAdDin Aaagh life keeps getting in the way! I broke my leg 5 weeks ago in a motorcycle accident and things got super crazy at work. I have a "2 years later" update I'm working on but believe it or not most of what's here in this repo is still core to what we use, there are only subtle tweaks between this repo and our internal "get up and running quickly" repo.

I've made some significant changes and now use proper Docker Volumes and Docker networks which should make this much more cross compatible with any modern Docker host.

Over the next two weeks I'll be evaluating some usage of this in AWS with a team member, so far it appears to be working but I haven't dug into the details of what changes he made to get it up and running. I'll post back here with more details. Leaving this open for now.
