Overview map suggestion

I think the map is super helpful and a part of the website that connects everything and could therefore get more attention. I think a tool like raphael or d3 would be really useful here - even if it takes more time than balsamiq, I think it's well worth it.

I'm glad to help, if you need it.

:+1: I agree. As we talked about this morning, I'm still figuring out the map part. What improvements should I make to the current layout to make it more clear? After a few more iterations I'll convert it into an SVG version with raphael.js or similar JavaScript library.

I would group the stuff on the other side of the internet separately into dependents (browsers, etc.) and dependencies (eg. PyPI or your own mirror). There are also a few more twists (like A/B testing, continuous integration, continuous delivery) that you should probably add, some of which can be either 3rd-party services in the 'cloud' or self-hosted.

You also need to add in local development as distinct from deployment.

I realize this doesn't necessarily make things easier. Perhaps you need more than one map?

Yeah, I agree with @webmaven . The more I look at it, and think about all the things that it should/could still include, the more I think this should be more than one map and/or a map that is more interactive and allows the user to filter (look at the overview of some subjects, but in-depth of others). I prefer the latter.
