Consider adding this android app to Fdroid

Wow @matiasdelellis, you are a genius 😲 The Quicknotes app is very nice and the only thing I missed was an Android app for it, and here you are again ! I’m very impressed !!

I create this issue to propose you to add this app on Fdroid. I don’t think it has to be stable yet to be accepted. If I can help you in any way therefore, don’t hesitate, I will do my possible.

Tanks again !

Thank you for the comforting words!. :smile:

Surely I will publish soon, but in the meantime if you want to be a tester, it is more than welcome... :grimacing:

Last build.. https://github.com/matiasdelellis/nextcloud-quicknotes/releases/tag/v0.3.0

I’ve tried several tests to check if I could find bugs, and the app works already almost perfectly !

One bug worth to describe here is that when I deactivate Quicknotes on Nextcloud (I suppose it does the same if I remove it entirely), and that I try to login on the app, then the app just crashes, without expliciting. After enabling on Nextcloud side, the app works perfectly.

I think it would be nice to set a popup or something to explain that the app has to be installed on Nextcloud, instead of just crash.

Other bugs are already in your Readme.md, under Limitations 👼

Great. Thanks.. 😄

You're right. I extracted it in #3 😬

Ok ok.. I guess, the most annoying thing is the initial wait.. but it will continue like this for a while. 🙈

Well, these days add tag editing, and a bit of styling.. New apk.. https://github.com/matiasdelellis/nextcloud-quicknotes/suites/1452184955/artifacts/24756522 😉

@matiasdelellis

Hmmm...

Certainly the app looks great! Really, it looks fairly polished given into consideration you are buidling this from watching YT videos!

I tried installing the lastest APK under releases and I get an error. Stating the file may be corrupt upon install. The original release installs and runs. Alternately, your latest APK link on this thread gives me a 404.

Cheers!

Edit: The latest link you posted, I was able to get it from my PC. As the zip file downloaded. Ran it and I am able to see the newer layout. Before again, it also crashes. If I start the app straight from install, it tells me it does not have rights. If I go into app settings and manually grant it Contact permissions, the very next time I open it, it asked me for an ID. I have the nextlcloud app so it prompts me. I pick the account and then the app begins to open for a couple of seconds before crashing. Yet again.

I am on Android 7.0. Sadly, I able to get hints of the app before it crashes.

Tried it on my device running 10, and the initial release works fine. Any after that, it does not. They all crash.

Please, open another issue for that.. Let's try to keep each Issue to a single topic... However, Try:

  • https://github.com/nextcloud/android/blob/master/README.md#getting-debug-info-via-logcat-mag

Using: adb logcat | grep "$(adb shell ps | awk '/ar.delellis.quicknotes/{print $2}')" > logcatOutput.txt

To help out your testers, could you please attach signed APKs to your releases? I could then pick those automatically within 24h of their being released and place them into my repo, so testers would receive them automatically (and others would become aware of your app). Once you feel it mature enough, it can then be moved to F-Droid.org – as it happened with numerous apps before.

@matiasdelellis

FYI: Have not forgotten. Never done this before and ran as requested on the PC was not able to find log file. Did it form the phone, and log is 8 megs. As per instructions a bit unwieldy to pickbajd paste errors as I found a few.

Silly question, know where the log file end on a PC? Feel free tobkark this as unrelated. Will try to make another, separate issue once I have the log extracted the valid information from the log. Cheers.
