Force dynamic cover-based colors to use lighter colors

Is there any way to define a rule such that it takes either the brightest or the most prominent color on a cover?

Right now it uses the darkest possible color for most covers (even if they are mostly bright colors), which makes it really hard to see the visualizer.

It should be noted that I have achieved better dynamic coloring years ago after editing some settings, but I can't seem to replicate it now. I've re-installed Windows since then and sadly forgot to save the settings for my previous setup.
