HTML5 video not working in Cycle2

I'm using the Cycle2 plugin for jQuery and having some problems playing HTML5 video inside of it.

An example of the issue can be seen here. On Safari 10 for example the video autoplays fine, but on about every other browser I've tried (that I have access to) including Safari 7 and several versions of Chrome only the audio plays and not the video.

If I place the same <video> outside of Cycle2 it works just fine, so I assume it's something inherent to Cycle2 (as opposed to other issues surrounding HTML5 video not playing).
