Current behavior

Hi, I'm using the latest, newly installed, self-hosted version of Plane. When I upload an attachment to a current issue (regardless of the file type and size, it appears correctly within the frontend view. But any attempt to preview or download an attachment fails. Clicking on the attachment results in opening a new page with the URL: http://localhost/uploads/201dac31-c891-47ca-8d53-f58b82ff0dcf/ae5de029f8b54b6bb147261c542e74ba-download.png, while browser option "save target as" results in "download failed - check internet connection".

Steps to reproduce

Open a new issue Add an attachment Try to open or download an attachment

Browser

Google Chrome

Version

Self-hosted

You need to specify either your ip or domain in the environment variable instead of http://localhost/ image

Hi @Dev-A-Line this has been configured as described before I submitted the ticket :) I have checked it again, WEB URL variable is set to IP address:port of my server, but the error is present never the less :(

@dskovac To be honest with me with ip also did not work only when the domain connected began to work normally image image

My env file is exactly the same as yours, it's just that I'm using IP address instead of FQDN and HTTP instead of https, but this shouldn't be an issue (since this machine can't be accessed outside of internal network). Really not sure why this is happening??

I'm not arguing that it's a problem with just told you how I managed to solve it. Let's wait for the developers to add a solution in the next release.

@Dev-A-Line No No, you got me all wrong, my reply wasn't meant to be rude or anything, just tried to explain things :) Thank you for trying to help, I really appreciate it. Hope someone from the development team will joint the conversation as well ๐Ÿคท

@eughcus, can you check by changing the environment WEB_URL to the hosted domain?

pablohashescobar avatar May 07 '24 17:05 pablohashescobar

@pablohashescobar this is a workaround, not a solution ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ If one is using self hosted version that is not available to the outside world, but only for internal network, a domain is not needed, IP address would suffice. Also, self hosted domain would create additional DNS/routing configurations to be maintained ๐Ÿคท๐Ÿฝโ€โ™‚๏ธ.

just saying, hoping there will be a solution ๐Ÿ˜Š

dskovac avatar May 07 '24 17:05 dskovac

@dskovac, if you are on a private network with an IP. You can provide that IP to the WEB_URL.
