macvim icon indicating copy to clipboard operation

multiple versions of vim exist in my system, but cannot be uninstalled.

Steps to reproduce

  1. install the MacVim.app (8.1.950) first
  2. update MacVim when update program pops. (8.1.1517)
  3. Now I tried to install the latest version, it is (8.2.3455)
  4. When I right click and open with MacVim, three version exits in the "open with" list.

I tried to uninstall them, only the latest version can be removed.

So my questions are 1) how to remove all of them, 2) How to keep the latest one only, if I update it?

Expected behaviour

keep the latest one only

Operating system

Mac OS 10.14.6

Version of Vim

8.0

HI @shulele, thank you for an issue

Please check the trash bin and try to empty it first. I observed such behavior in macOS in general.

Thanks for your suggestion. Unfortunately, it did not solve the problem. Now I have three versions available on right-click list: 8.2.2681, 8.1.1517, 8.1.950. I can use anyone of them to open a file. If so, there are three macvim icons in the Docker.

I even don't know where they locate.

If you are referring to the "open with" showing multiple versions, that is a OSX bug and not a macvim. I have seen it before with older versions. I suspect your issue is like what is shown here. https://mac-how-to.gadgethacks.com/how-to/remove-duplicates-customize-open-with-menu-mac-os-x-0157100/

onyx is a good tool for this if you do not like the command line. https://www.titanium-software.fr/en/onyx.html
