What are the various branches for? Particularely, md compared to dev?

md is an experimental branch for porting over to a new drawing library called minidraw. A refactor basically. All of the code in this repository will be replaced later so I don't recommend doing any serious work based on any code in this repository. I should actually archive this project for the time being really.
