Audio not working after sleep on SB2

Audio stops working on my SB2 after awaking it from sleep. If restarting the computer afterwards, audio still doesn't work. After pressing the power button, it appears to shut off properly at first glance, however it still draws power. Only after pressing the power button for a long time, it stops drawing power, and can be started again. At that point, audio works again.

I have experienced this issue for a while, so it should not be specific to recent kernel versions. I use a custom kernel, and expect that this issue is due to a bad kernel configuration.

Environment

• Hardware model: Surface Book 2
• Kernel version: 5.15-surface
• Distribution: Gentoo

I still experience this issue on the 6.8 surface kernel.

The audio now usually works after resuming from suspend, but it still does not properly shut down if it had been suspended.

Any guidance on how to debug this further, would be appreciated.
