prometheus: inform about connectivity

Basically what m-schmoock did for the summary plugin but i'd like to see it in my Grafana (and eventually use it in my backend)

@darosior Can you provide any more details about this request? I just looked over the prometheus plugin and can probably make the requested changes for you.
