Add trend lines for cartesian charts

Open TuringLovesDeathMetal opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

Description

I want to be add trend lines to my cartesian charts. Specifically a linear regression across a set of values that have a numeric y-axis.

What problem does this solve?

Sometimes, you want to be able to quickly add trend lines to your charts

Acceptance criteria

  • [ ] if I have a continuous numeric value on the y-axis and a cartesian chart type selected, then I can add a linear regression.

  • [ ] There is an option in display which is called Trend lines. (Exactly like reference lines). You can click + Add to add a new trend line

  • [ ] The trend line setting are exactly as the reference line settings, except there's no value option image

  • [ ] There are no other options except for "line of best fit". (eventually we can add other line types to fit)

  • [ ] There's an info box on hover on the trend line in the config box that says "This is calculated as a line of best fit"

Comment about echarts:

explore: which chart types can get trendlines?
