[ WiiU ] Recording/Twitch Streaming In RetroArch Causes a Bad Memory Crash
Description
I am on WiiU and when I start a recording or start streaming, RA crashes.
Expected behavior
RetroArch shouldn't crash. My gameplay should continue and be recorded or should be streamed depending on which option I picked.
Actual behavior
I get a crash screen when I start recording and I get the same crash when I start to stream to Twitch.
Steps to reproduce the bug
- Load RA on WiiU
- Enable Recording Menu and set a directory to save recordings to.
- Enter Twitch Stream Key into recording/stream settings.
- Launch mGBA.
- Load any .gb rom.
- In quick menu, click start recording or click start streaming.
- RA crashes.
Bisect Results
This only started happening once I tried to record or stream from RA. Under recording driver in retroarch.cfg it = "" and I don't have the option to select another driver though the RA menu.

I think it's to be expected that recording/streaming doesn't work, as I don't think ffmpeg is available on wii u. However, I'm surprised the options are still visible. Usually stuff that's just straight-up nonfunctional is hidden at compile time.

Yea, from my research online ffmpeg doesn't come on wiiu, but I was able to find a library for ffmpeg, but it can't be installed directly on wiiu I guess? It needs to be included in at compile time? I'm somewhat new to this low level homebrewing my wiiu.
And all I had to do to get the recording menu to open was set the directory for recording under directory settings. I noticed you could enter a Twitch/Youtube/Facebook Gaming Stream Key under account settings without needing to change any settings.
Yeah, it has to be linked in at compile-time, unfortunately.
There are a few builds of ffmpeg out there for wiiu; though the hardware isn't really powerful to encode video in realtime. Options should definitely be hidden..
