Next release: .tar.gz option?

For the next release, or even a nightly build periodically, would it be 
possible to provide a .tar.gz package for Linux?  If you want, I'll even 
compile it for you.

Ok, noted. I can compile it of course but is there any kind of preferred 
structure in the archive or something?

Just the binary, a default config, and an examples directory should do it.
