Just wanted to report that I tested this on a Canon G6000 series (G6020) that wasnt being detected by SANE for some reason and also create a place for people to comment scanner models that they have tested this on so that at some point, a PR can be made to update the list (instead of many PR's for adding individual models).

There is finally work underway to get this functionality into SANE, so I hope this proof of concept can be archived soon. But thank you for reporting - someone may be searching for SANE and this model, and be happy to find there is at least a working script for this.

This is supposedly included in SANE Backends 1.0.29 release last month.
