Have you set a dark theme in your system settings?

linux supports multiple different widget toolkits, some of which support theming. subtitleeditor uses gtk3. that means it uses the gtk3 theme you choose. here is how it looks on my system with the adwaita dark theme. This is not an issue with subtitleditor. If you want to learn how to theme gtk3, please do so and close the issue.
