Ubuntu (23.10) installation fails from the website: here is a quick fix

Open tcsenpai opened this issue 2 years ago • 0 comments

While using

`curl --remote-name https://prerelease.keybase.io/keybase_amd64.deb

sudo apt install ./keybase_amd64.deb

run_keybase`

As provided on the website, I got a bunch of dependencies errors. Specifically, it all starts with libgconf-2-4 which appears not to be included in Ubuntu repos (at least here). If you have this problem, you can use the following gist which is basically a wrap up of the dependencies i found broken on Ubuntu 23.10 plus the official installer.

Related dependencies included:

  • gconf2-common_3.2.6-5_all.deb (deb package, version sensitive)
  • libgconf-2-4_3.2.6-5_amd64.deb (deb package, version sensitive)
  • libdbusmenu-gtk4 (repo package)
  • libappindicator1 (repo package)

Convenience gist to download and execute (or copypaste):

https://gist.github.com/tcsenpai/59c93dab2f0a092ce662b3e6cb1a18be

Of course you are highly encouraged to read and execute commands one by one.
