fatal: could not read Username for 'https://github.com': Device not configured

I'm trying to clone my professor's code from GitHub to qt but the message "fatal: could not read Username for 'https://github.com': Device not configured" appears at checkout. I tried changing the https to ssp but it still doesn't work. HELP
