Far Cry - crash

Open knerlington opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

Using the 64 bit version of DSOAL 1.4 floating around the net (pcgamingwiki nexusmods etc.) with the 64 bit version of OpenAL Soft 1.22.2 the game has a tendency to crash both when loading certain new maps or while in-game. The games own crash log states that crysound is crashing due to a critical exception: Exception: 0xC000008F, at Address: 0x0033:0x00007FF97749538F

This has never happened while using ALchemy's dsound.dll. Haven't got the tools to compile dsoal from source myself and I don't know if this affects the 32 bit version of the game. Using the 64 bit client of Far Cry 1.32.

Attaching a checkpoint for the game which is very near a level transition where it has 100% reproduction rate. Drop the save game in the games install path: "install directory\Profiles\player\default\savegames" checkpoint_rebellion_Rebellion_14.zip

Try with the latest git versions: https://github.com/kcat/dsoal/actions/ https://github.com/kcat/openal-soft/actions

That solved the reproducible crash when loading the next level from the checkpoint above. Windows Defender at first however flagged the AL soft dll as a trojan "Sabsik.FL.B!ml". Guessing false positive.
