unsupported tick*.wav formats under wx_sound

I'm getting the following errors when trying to use MIDI function

10:39:12 AM: Sound file '/media/avetik/SdCard/bin/EasyABC/sound/tick1.wav' is in unsupported format. 10:39:12 AM: Sound file '/media/avetik/SdCard/bin/EasyABC/sound/tick2.wav' is in unsupported format.

System: Kernel: 5.4.0-137-generic x86_64 bits: 64 compiler: gcc v: 9.4.0 Desktop: Xfce 4.16.0 tk: Gtk 3.24.20 wm: xfwm4 dm: LightDM Distro: Linux Mint 20.3 Una base: Ubuntu 20.04 focal

Also, maybe this is an unrelated issue, but recording MIDI on my system never worked. I ended up re-converting tick1.wav and tick2.wav to a larger wav format and that error didn't show up any more, but MIDI recording still doesn't work at all. I have set MIDI input from my phone's keyboard app and configured EasyABC settings to see that input, but when I press the "record" button nothing actually happens. I tried.
