Closing GUI causes performance meter spike

Just started playing with this yesterday (very happy to see that jsfx can be used in other hosts!) but I've noticed an odd behaviour with certain plugins: when I close the GUI of certain plugins the performance meter actually goes up, significantly. If I re-open the GUI, the meter goes back down.

Plugins I've seen do this so far include Tukan Guitar Station 2 and some Saike plugins, I think Lava verb. With the Gui open, performance meter is usually around say 11%-13% (similar for most of the plugins I've tried I think), but spikes up to over 30% and stays there while the GUI is closed.

I'm on MX Linux, and the host was Carla from kxStudio.
