Create module position if not hard coded
It would be a good idea to be able to create module positions on the fly. Novice users will not know how to hard code module positions. I like the work flow, But, the work flow dies once all available module positions are filtered out. I was expecting to be able to type a module name and hit enter like in native Joomla backend... Think about it...
Hi,
We had this form day one but It wasn't working fine since that module position (without refresh), had to be available in all the dropdowns in the layout manager and other area's where you select a module position (which wasn't possible at the time), we did found a related solution and will have it available in the next release or two.
Thanks, Chetan
can I bump this.
When I started to build my layout I discovered that you cannot create new module positions which is incredible confusing and actually prevents you from using the layout manager to create your own layout.
I have a perfect layout I have used on a previous system which has its own module names etc.. but without changing the templateDetails.xml as per https://www.joomdev.com/forum/astroid-framework/1968-solved-how-to-create-a-new-module-position this is not possible.
Also the dropdown menu is also confusing. perhaps when you add create on the fly option for module positions you will remove this.

I am also guessing that the import export features will not copy the module positions in the xml file.
thanks
Hello,
The problem seems to be making the same module position available in the all the dropdowns of Astroid Layout Manager without refresh. Since these values (module positions) are pre-loaded on the page as variables. It's hard to append to them without impacting other verticals. We do however have a plan in place to get this done and this will be coming up in the next release or so.
Thanks, Chetan
bump - would be really handy
