I suggest to integrate redshift deeper into the Linux Mint power applet to control brightness and color temperature.

Perhaps Linux Mint should ship 'gammastep' - a form of redshift - rather than redshift itself; please see the discussion here on the redshift tracker. I did find gammastep within the 'universe' repository that Mint makes available.
