You can get halfway there by tapping '+' until the currently focused panel takes up the whole screen, however at the moment it's not possible to focus the secondary panel....
Do you know of a flag that can be passed to the git command on the command line that would enable this behaviour?
This can be done at the repo level with the git config. Closing due to staleness
