5.0.1 Kernel and Surface 3 battery

The Surface 3 (non-pro) battery indicator works on 4.18.20 but not on 5.0.1.

In Kubuntu 19.04 the battery indicator in the bottom appears and disappears frequently but it is there on a surface 3 non-pro.

I'm on Kubuntu 18.04 and it's saying there is no battery detected.

Using Elementary OS with a non-Pro surface 3, battery indicator works on 4.18.20 and 4.19.18, but not on releases following 4.19.18.
