Disclosure: I'm interested in and would be surprised if "Has builtin integration with Linux MIDI" were still false for Jack2.

Would you please verify this?

The age or learning Jack for the first time? I asked the mailing list.

The fact about MIDI integration.

There's plenty of Alsa midi code, but that still leaves the questions of

  • Has builtin support for >1 soundcard on Linux
  • Supports metadata API

for Jack2, and any Jack1 progress (there was a release candidate in February)

I see, I need to double check this, I'll keep this open then.

I think I will wait for the release candidate to become a real release. We should have a version description then.

Will Jack2 get a version bump or is it rolling release at this point? If I understand, Jack1 is more important because once it's 'complete' Jack3 discussion will start.

Also, the website implies more than once that Jack1 doesn't do Windows, but it has PortAudio in the tree.

I am not involved into the release process of jack2 so I do not know. @sletz will probably make the release for the next stable version at some point, so a version bump it is, I guess.

JACK3 is currently just a dream. Not sure if someone is really working on something in that regard.

jack1 does not run on windows AFAIK. This has nothing to do with PortAudio, since PortAudio can also be used on linux to interface with ALSA.
