Tray icon disappears

Describe your environment

  • Device: Motorola Z4
  • OS name and version: Android 10
  • IVPN app version: 2.8.2

Describe the problem

A customer reports an issue with the IVPN App's icon on an Android 10 device. With a WireGuard connection, the V-with-wings icon sometimes goes away after connecting to a server. The icon re-appears when disconnecting.

The VPN tunnel remains intact.

I attempted to replicate the issue on an Android 8 device from a different manufacturer, though my testing seems to have been too limited to reproduce the issue.

Steps to reproduce:

  1. Connect to WireGuard.
  2. Observer the tray icon disappears.
  3. Disconnect the VPN to cause the return of the tray icon.

Observed Results:

The tray icon disappears.

Expected Results:

The tray icon does not disappear.

Can confirm, I experience the same issue with the following specs:

  • Phone: OnePlus 8T
  • OS: LineageOS for microG (April 4, 2022, latest release as of today)
  • IVPN app version: 2.8.2 (F-Droid)
