Zabbix Adapter (Upgrade existing one) needed ?

Hello, to start with my original foreseen Adapter from scratch it is very hard for me.

So I searched for an opportunity to update an existing one which is longer not updated. I found the adapter ZABBIX HERE. Is there any Interest to upgrade this Adapter to let's say newest version ? Maybe for me is better to start with an existing project rather than to start completely new ?
