Create Channel With Github inside Specific Team

Open Elaixzar opened this issue 4 years ago • 5 comments

Am I missing something with the Github Teams integration. I can personally connect to a repository and it brings it up inside a chat channel, and a specific Github App window inside teams, but when I try to issue an @github command inside an actual team channel, it only brings up a Create Issue prompt. Is there a way to connect to a repository and get notifications inside an actual team channel?

Oooh I had this problem too - you need to make sure to add the Github bot to your Team (Manage Team > Apps tab > More Apps > find the Github app)

Was able to get that working. Thanks! Would be absolutely better if this were in the documentation somewhere. Did not see it in about a half hour of parsing multiple documentation and announcement sites

Thanks!

@Elaixzar : thanks for bringing this to notice

@ashokirla can you take a look at the suggested documentation update?

It took far longer than I'd like to admit before I stumbled on @matt-carr's suggestion/fix. I think the documentation could be a bit clearer (that you need to add the bot to the channel).

Additionally, if you have previously installed the app, you will see a button labeled Open by default. You will need to click the dropdown to get the option to Add it to Team.

Let me know if I can contribute to the documentation. It definitely needs to be clearer.
