Thanks for the PR. A couple comments/questions:

  1. Can you provide an SVG?
  2. Can you provide a wide SVG logo as well? If you look at projects like polars and pandas they have logos that work in multiple dimensions
  3. I think a simpler font would be better; I find it a little hard to read the word "pantab"

If you have any other background information or guidance on the proposal it would be helpful; I'm definitely not an expert!

@WillAyd I wanted to share the intentions behind the Pantab logo design :-

  • Visual Appeal: The logo features a modern and sleek design to ensure it stands out.
  • Font Choice : I enhanced the previous font to give it a more polished and professional appearance.
  • Symbolism : The upward triangle is intended to represent growth and advancement.
  • Slogan : "Stepping Towards Innovation" captures the essence of Pantab's commitment to progress.

I hope this design aligns with Pantab's vision and goals!

@WillAyd Also as per this :-

  1. Can you provide an SVG?
  2. Can you provide a wide SVG logo as well? If you look at projects like polars and pandas they have logos that work in multiple dimensions

I can provide SVG & images of multiple dimensions as per your requirements. Just you have to give me the dimensions you need and I will surely deliver them !

Where does some of this come from? Is this AI-generated? We have never used the slogan "Stepping Towards Innovation"

I can provide SVG & images of multiple dimensions as per your requirements. Just you have to give me the dimensions you need and I will surely deliver them !

This is not my forte. Have you done this for projects in the past and if so what have you done? If unsure, I would just look at what other open source libraries like pandas and polars do and mimic them

WillAyd avatar Oct 15 '24 12:10 WillAyd

Ok this logo was designed using AI and Canva with some custom modifications to make it appealing. The slogan was just a placeholder. And the rest was some of my intentions to show others the meaning of the logo. My previous work as a graphic designer in a clothing startup and also in some college hackathon flyers along with friends yt channel logo :- UG tshirt design codement_24 TechTalk Logo TechTalk Flyer UG logo1

OK thanks. If you look at a project like polars, they have both a "text" logo and one without text:

https://github.com/pola-rs/polars-static/blob/master/logos/polars_logo_white_text.svg

Which I think would be great to emulate. If you need dimensions I think you can just mirror what they are doing.

As far as the design goes, I think it would prefer things to be a little more plain what what is provided above. If you look at the Tableau and pandas logos you can find some inspiration. The word "pantab" should be clear to read in the text version, so can scale back on some of the stylistic embellishments there

The pandas and Tableau logos share some color overlap, so we may want to use that here as well (mostly through blues). We of course have to be careful not to suggest any affiliation to those projects, but would still be nice to draw parallels with our logo

WillAyd avatar Oct 15 '24 19:10 WillAyd

So I decided to make a new logo as per your requirement and as per the dimensions I am having doubt as in polars project they have not mentioned the dimensions of images that they are using. Do specify the dimensions also logo can be in the form of svg. Logo :- panTab

iitzIrFan avatar Oct 16 '24 22:10 iitzIrFan

I apologize for not really specifying requirements well, mostly because I don't know quite what I want. However, the latest design I think is too busy. I would prefer a more plain font and something closer to the design style of the pandas or polars logos.

Generally I think simpler will be better

WillAyd avatar Oct 18 '24 19:10 WillAyd

Will this work as it is as per your mentioned requirements ? panTab (1)

iitzIrFan avatar Oct 23 '24 21:10 iitzIrFan

Seems to be heading in the right direction. Can you replace the cursive font with something more plain? I think looking at your other logos, the codement_24 font might be a good choice

WillAyd avatar Oct 23 '24 21:10 WillAyd

Now ? panTab(2)

iitzIrFan avatar Oct 23 '24 21:10 iitzIrFan

The dimensions there seem elongated vertically. Not sure if that matters at this stage, but figured worth mention.

I think all lowercase lettering is preferable. It may be worth exploring if using a plus sign in place of the t yields any stylistic improvements, especially since pantab started out as the combination of pandas and tableau

Colorwise is black and blue accessible? Also, what is the design inspiration for the logo to the left of the text?

WillAyd avatar Oct 23 '24 21:10 WillAyd

cc @jorwoods in case he has any input as well

WillAyd avatar Oct 23 '24 21:10 WillAyd

Yeah, I agree with @WillAyd. Lowercase seems to fit with the python ecosystem a little better. Really like the idea of the "+" symbol in place of the t. How does it look with the "+" in orange?

jorwoods avatar Oct 24 '24 01:10 jorwoods

@WillAyd & @jorwoods This is how it looks after all the changes that you have mentioned and as per the elongation you mentioned it should be settled when I deliver it in svg format as per my knowledge. You can add points to be considered further ! panTab

iitzIrFan avatar Oct 24 '24 20:10 iitzIrFan

I think it would be better if the plus sign was the same size as everything else. Also, the stems on the letters p and b look really short. Maybe there is still yet a better font to use.

As for the image to the left of the text, is there something we can do that would remind users more of pantab? If I were to look at that by itself I wouldn't be able to draw any association

WillAyd avatar Oct 24 '24 20:10 WillAyd

@WillAyd For the image on the left it's an Falcon Bird inspiration from USA military. Logo after changes :- panTab

iitzIrFan avatar Oct 24 '24 21:10 iitzIrFan

Thanks! Maybe a thinner plus sign would be nice? So that it looks closer to a "t"?

I'm not sure about the falcon bird, although admittedly I can't describe really what I'm looking for. We obviously have no affiliation with the US Military, so I think something drawing inspiration from pandas and tableau would be more suitable, whatever that may be

WillAyd avatar Oct 24 '24 23:10 WillAyd

@WillAyd Now ? panTab (1)

iitzIrFan avatar Oct 25 '24 09:10 iitzIrFan

Let's remove the background design - simpler will definitely be better. I also think its good to have something simple so we can invert the colors to support light/dark backgrounds.

The plus sign in the latest iteration feels a bit cartoony. I am also pretty indifferent to the triangle, although my gut tells me that's probably too generic, and doesn't really draw any parallel to pantab

WillAyd avatar Oct 25 '24 14:10 WillAyd

@WillAyd Had improved the + sign and the triangle symbol is replaced with some random symbol and yes a little bit unique as it will surely be the next awesome product in production like Pandas & Polars in coming future ! panTab

iitzIrFan avatar Oct 26 '24 21:10 iitzIrFan

Cool! As far as the plus sign goes, I think should just keep it two dimensional. If it doesn't look good, then going back to a "t" is fine.

Would it be a good idea to add some contrasting color? The current logo is blue and orange - not sure if adding that same orange to this design makes it look better

WillAyd avatar Oct 26 '24 23:10 WillAyd

@WillAyd Going with normal "t" also orange will not be the right color as it looks not so great as per the product. panTab (1)

iitzIrFan avatar Oct 26 '24 23:10 iitzIrFan

@WillAyd Any update as it has been 2 weeks ?

iitzIrFan avatar Nov 07 '24 10:11 iitzIrFan

Sorry I haven't been able to look much at this. The letter in the latest example looks off - "pan" is more elevated than "tab" - is that by design?

I know we are trying to generate this with AI but ultimately I don't know what I should be asking for; it is possible we just can't figure out the right prompts. Ideally we can find someone with a graphic design background that could lend some expertise to the process
