arpack Create a release

Hi,

This is amazing that you have accumulated all the bugfixes for ARAPACK. Can you create a release or a distribution with a version number, so that it is easier to integrate into other software. We are using it in julia (http://www.julialang.org) and a release would considerably simplify things.

I was in fact planning to create a github project for arpack myself - but this is far more comprehensive.

Hi Viral,

I agree that a release would be great to have. In fact, there was a discussion that went all the way to Danny Sorensen on what to do about that, but that effort seems to have stalled. The Octave guys also have a few patches to ARPACK. Plus I know someone at Courant who has fixed a serious numerical issue in ARPACK. I'll see what I can do in pulling all of this together, but (for now) it's all a bit harder than it needs to be.
