What you are doing is correct I think. I haven't touched cukunity for quite some time but probably what yu are experiencing is some incompatibility with the current code with the most recent version of XCode. I will take a look at it.

What version of XCode, OSX are you using?

Btw it would be easier for me to track bugs in the issues page. Sometimes I miss emails because I got so many junk
