Text inside SVGs disappears when highlighted by Hypothesis

Open am97 opened this issue 8 years ago • 2 comments

Steps to reproduce

  1. Go to https://internethealthreport.org/v01/privacy-and-security/?utm_source=dev-newsletter&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=jan26 1

  2. Select a rotated text from any of the graphics 2

  3. Anotate it 3

  4. The text disapears! 4

  5. Even if I use another browser (Chromium), the text has still disappeared. 5

Expected behaviour

Rotated text should be highlighted like it happens with normal text.

Actual behaviour

Rotated text disapears.

Browser/system information

Firefox 50 in Fedora 25, but the bug also appears in Chromium and even in Firefox for Android

Additional details

Something weird about this bug: the text rotated at 45° appears again some minutes after, but the text rotated at 90° does not appear again. 6

I've reproduced. This is interesting, however: the text in question is within an SVG...

Lyza is right - the issue here happens because the text is inside an SVG, not because it is rotated. The same problem arises if you highlight non-rotated text in that graphic.
