You can try to install Gnome Extension: Top Icons Plus Git by bijignome, it might help.

"Top Icon Plus Git" does not work for 22.04, another gnome extension can be alternative choice.(https://extensions.gnome.org/extension/2890/tray-icons-reloaded/)
