Complications not updating

Open DanielBaulig opened this issue 2 years ago • 4 comments

iOS device model, version and app version

Model Name: iPhone 13 Pro Software Version: 16.5.1 (c) App version: 2023.4

Home Assistant Core Version 2023.7.3

Describe the bug My Home Assistant complications are not updating. When I hit the "Update Complications" option in the Apple Watch menu of the app they will usually update (sometimes it seems to take two taps of the button), but they do not update outside of that. Not when sending the update_complications notification message (see https://companion.home-assistant.io/docs/apple-watch/complications#manual-updates), but also not on the regular 15 min interval.

Note: the complications seem to update (maybe even normally) while I am not at home, making me assume it might be related to local push? I understand that the notify service manual update is known to not work with local push, but I would assume that that has no effect on the regular updates.

Also note: Ironically, while writing this post (and presumably while tapping through the HA app to find version information, etc) the complications just updated.

Please let me know what other debugging information I may be able to provide to help debug this.

I think I have the same issue. My complications haven't updated in a few weeks now. I think the issue started when I accidentally removed and reinstalled my Home Assistant app on the Apple Watch. I can see the correct graphics in the Watch app on my iPhone when previewing a watch face, but I can not get it to update on the watch itself. I've tried creating new watch faces and resetting the complications to no avail.

I've also had this issue for a while, but it's gotten worse lately. I have an automation which should cause it to update when certain states change or hourly, but it doesn't seem to work anymore. Complication rarely updates, even if I press the Update Complication button on the watch or in the app. It also sometimes reverts to a template result from earlier in the day. I added the date & time to my template to check and I can't find any pattern to when it reverts to.

Same issue. I've had sporadic complication updating for a long time but it does seem to have gotten worse lately. I also added a date/time template to check, and I can't really see any reliable patterns. But I would say that my complications seem to update just a few times a day. I have no consistent internet problems at home or on my phone, and no connection issues between my phone and my watch otherwise. This makes the complications basically useless, unfortunately.

Updating complications manually with this method has never worked very reliably, but never works at all now.

Same as well here.

I was trying these last days to use an automation every 20 minutes to update the watch : image

Some times it only update the Watch once or two per day.

Seems like that the companion app doesn't have refreshed the sensors data on its side to send them to the Watch : if I pull and refresh on the companion app the dashboard panel, then I launch manually the automation => the watch is updated
