I have come across this same issue (noaa-owp/ngen#655) and have deduced some additional context. This seems to happen when the python interpreter being embedded has been `statically` linked to `libpython`....
Any insight on this issue? I'm trying to build up a set of schemas and reference between them in independent files, and I get the same error.

Can you share the command you ran and the output including the seg fault?
