Events page: Remove projects from Our Locations section

Open JessicaLucindaCheng opened this issue 3 years ago • 11 comments

Overview

As a developer, I want to update the Our Locations section on the Events page so that it reflects Hack for LA going fully remote and no longer doing in-person meetings. For this issue, we will remove projects from the Our Locations section on the Events page following the new Figma design for it.

Details

Screenshots of the New Our Locations Section on Events Page

Below are screenshots of the updates but please reference the Events page Figma design in the red box when working on this issue to see more of the design and details more clearly.

New Mobile Our Locations section on Events page new-events-our-location-mobile

Action Items

  • [ ] Implement the desktop version of the new Our Locations section on the Events page
  • [ ] Implement the mobile version of the new Our Locations section on the Events page
  • [ ] Check the page looks good in mobile, tablet, and desktop views using developer tools
  • [ ] Give your email address associated with your Figma account to a merge team member or technical lead and request access so you can make edits in Figma
    • [ ] In Figma, under the Large Cards section in the Design System, add the information for the Class, CSS, Uses, and Context Example columns for the Events Card

Hi @JessicaLucindaCheng.

Please don't forget to add the proper labels to this issue. Currently, the labels for the following are missing: Size

To add a label, take a look at Github's documentation here.

Also, don't forget to remove the "missing labels" afterwards. To remove a label, the process is similar to adding a label, but you select a currently added label to remove it.

After the proper labels are added, the merge team will review the issue and add a "Ready for Milestone" label once it is ready for prioritization.

Please add update using the below template (even if you have a pull request). Afterwards, remove the 'To Update !' label and add the 'Status: Updated' label.

  1. Progress: "What is the current status of your project? What have you completed and what is left to do?"
  2. Blockers: "Difficulties or errors encountered."
  3. Availability: "How much time will you have this week to work on this issue?"
  4. ETA: "When do you expect this issue to be completed?"
  5. Pictures (optional): "Add any pictures of the visual changes made to the site so far."

If you need help, be sure to either: 1) place your issue in the developer meeting discussion column and ask for help at your next meeting, 2) put a "Status: Help Wanted" label on your issue and pull request, or 3) put up a request for assistance on the #hfla-site channel.

Availability: 10 am - 7 pm 11/9, 10 am - 6 pm 11/10, 10 - 2 11/11, 10 -2 11/13, 10-noon 10/14 ETA: 11/15

Progress: large screen looks good, mobile version almost ready, need a bit of work on tablet version. The location images are not scaling properly moving between mobile and tablet views.

Blockers: This isn't blocking yet but I will need access to Figma to update styles for event-card, also I'm unclear on the process for updating Figma (version control?). Request made to @kathrynsilvaconway

Availability: I can work 3 hrs 11/13, 3 hrs 11/14, no time 11/15, 4 hrs 11/16

ETA: EOD 11/16

I have to admit, I don't know how to take a picture of the entire page. I have a small device at max res so I'm show screen shots of just the events location portion of the page, and it appears cut off but that is just because the screen is too small.
