This might be something we also need to pick up with editorial?
This is one done via Comic Generator. Issues around this old tool and its output have been discussed at length. Solution is mostly technical (Editorial already slices up bigger panels). It may require Art Direction part of Picture Element (?) be implemented in the whole of content pipeline.
If we were to move to a higerh-resolution option to make it more readable, is it likely we can get really good alt text describing the cartoon for screen-reader users?
Squires are 7MPix. Enough, but on a low side (and the scans look low contrast, which may, just may, be a problem with the scanning). Alt text would need to be a part of tech solution (it’s not available in Comic Generator) and then we would need to talk to Editorial about filling it.
I recommend adding it (again) to a Content Pipeline agenda? (Apps have reports about these being unredable coz they disable zooming unlike web, Editions have to remake them, coz interatcives aren’t supported – there is much to make better. Mostly tech-wise, but some Editorial).
Is this still present with the new Cartoon elements? Let’s confirm
