AWS reservation for 2024
AWS Reservations for 2024 are coming up and it is time to think ahead of what to reserve.
In the AWS Reservations 2024 spreadsheet you should nominate somebody in your team as point of contact and list the reservations you are planning to make, it is currently pre-populated with last year’s data.
We encourage you to pair with a less experienced team member on the reservation process and possibly make them the nominated person because it is a great opportunity for less experienced engineers to familiarise themselves with the aws environment they work in.
Please take note of the dates outlined in the spreadsheet and plan accordingly:
6th March 2024 - Deadline: Update the tracker sheet on the Reservation proposals tab
11th - 27th March 2024 - Make reservations
There is a document with a Checklist and FAQ about the AWS Reservation procedure that also gives some guidance about what you should be reserving. You might want to look not only at EC2, but also RDS databases and Kinesis/DynamoDB capacity.
You can also check the recommendations and what you are currently running in the aws console and refer to the EC2 Instances per Account dashboard.
