Wordhighlighting possible? (No issue, request!)
I would be nice if you could switch between word highlighting or sentence highlighting! This would be very helpfull for people with dyslexia!
I know, I considered it too, but Android TTS system does not provide any kind of notifications when one word utterance is finished and the next one begins. We would have to lobby Google and TTS Engine makers to provide such features.

Is it not possible to breakdown the sentence in words and only do a one word text to speak conversion? The timimg between the following words is then something that now be be regulated by own code! I like your app very much and i want to use it for my daughter!
But then the TTS engine would not read sentences, it would sound like reading a list of words, without any correct intonation etc… Is this what you need? Sounds like you really want some kind of educational software, which probably already exist…
Also, TTS engine may take some clues to the correct pronunciation words from the sentence context. If cut out from this context and forced to read separate words, it may be less accurate. But in general, what you propose, would be doable.
