@mebjas could you please provide roadmap for this. We need to use this in Maui/Xamarin app. As Xamarin providing bindings for only stable versions https://github.com/xamarin/AndroidX/issues/1028

I am also interested in this as the dotnet team won't bind this library until it moves into final release. Any update on when this will happen?

We would also be very interested in a stable release

Could you please share an updated roadmap for ML Kit’s Document Scanner?

Thanks for waiting on this! Glad you are interested in using the library. The GA plan for this library is under active discussion - once something is finalized we will get back on it asap. However, at best, it might only be feasible by Q3 2025.

@luckycloud-GmbH @umairabbas @ryotuxtuki FMI, could you share more - why you are actively looking for stable release vs beta release?

FMI, could you share more - why you are actively looking for stable release vs beta release?

I know this may not be of great concert to the majority of users - but I'm using Microsofts .NET offerings to build applications for both iOS and Android.

Being in beta unfortunately prevents me from using/testing out otherwise "great stuff". The Microsoft platform teams by policy declines to develop/provide integration to software/libraries/components being "in beta".

Although I generally understand their sentiment and to a certain degree may also agree - there can be a gab for components/libraries in "beta" for extended periods. Especially when the quality of the "beta" component is approaching "release-candidate" or "near production ready" state.

Looking forward to the release...

@luckycloud-GmbH @umairabbas @ryotuxtuki FMI, could you share more - why you are actively looking for stable release vs beta release?

This requirement is due to compliance policy of our clients, which allows us to only use stable lib. versions in production.

@mebjas First of all thank you for your work on this library.

I have tested the library for my use-cases and it has worked very well on phone devices. (Samsung A36, Motorola Edge 50 neo, Google Pixel)

However, on tablet devices, some issues exist. The forced full-screen for the UI does not look well-scaled on both 8inch Tablet devices (Samsung Galaxy-Tab Active5) as well as 11-inch devices (Samsung Tab A9+, Xiaomi Pad 6).

The gmsscanneroptions do not provide any options for determining the size of the UI on the page. (at least I have no found any options for this). Also it is not possible to set the UI in landscape mode by default. On Tablet devices, the CameraView part of the screen is a much lower portion of the screen as compared to what it is on phone devices. One of my use-cases requires that the document scanning be done on 8-inch tablets and the "disproportionate" UI is an issue.

Are there any plans for the stable release to improve scaling for tablet / non-phone devices?

Hope you have a wonderful week.

Update: This is actively being pursued and we should have a stable version out shortly!

Thanks for waiting.
