Binary packages
Hej, I really like this project and think it should get more testing/contributions. I created a copr to build packages for fedora and will try to make it automatically work with future versions.
What do you think about a ppa for ubuntu?
Currently the whole thing is linked statically, won't I have to change the build first?
Well, certainly to get it included into the official repo. But as a ppa/copr, I don't think there're restrictions like that. There's many projects out there which statically link on purpose, for example to get a newer openssl version for their ngnix on an old ubuntu 14.04 Or did I understand your question wrong?
Well, I have just been told that static linking doesn't go well with packaging, which is why I asked. I have no experience with PPAs, so if you're telling me that it would work, I could have a look.
@treba123, people keep mailing me, thinking I am the owner of the COPR project (well, I also put it on the readme...). Could you please make it clear in the description that I'm not the maintainer? Anyway, I was messages about two things: the COPR project is missing the mxml dependency, and it is still on 0.6.5.
Oh! Will have a look on both of that!
Alright, updated the package/dependencies and changed the contact field.
Unfortunately I'm quite busy with another project, but I still think it would be cool to make this one more accessible. Most notably I'd love to have a flatpak build of pidgin with this included. And we should definitely have a ppa. I'll have another look into that
