1st step to onboard into GF
Hello there, We can look everything in detail during our meeting on Wednesday.
Basically I adjusted everything needed to match GF requirements and I had to fix some stuff to be able to export. Fixing interpolation issues forced me to save with Glyphs version 3, I understand it might be a problem, so let's not forget to discuss about that.
- There was a confusion between combining and legacy accents (fixed)
- Interpolation issues: there were missing anchors and inconsistent use of accent components. I only added anchors in missing layers and masters to be able to export the font, they need your attention so they get positioned correctly (They are in red in the file, and I noted the names in the commit history)
- I removed the hyphen from the family name, it is used to separate the family name from the style name conventionally.
- Alternate layers may be Intermediate layers instead; maybe look it up. You should also make sure that the alternate layers got exported correctly in the binaries.
- Reviewed instance names etc. The interpolation is very linear, maybe we should review together the axis mapping to have a possible more harmonious distribution of weight along the axis.
- We will discuss the problem with the ital axis and the different possible approaches. For now I sliced the VF to have separate Roman/Italic, which we would recommend for better user experience.
- Vertical metrics are also adjusted according to GF requirements
- The font for now doesn't cover our basic Latin glyphset, but maybe this is an exception we can make, I'll have to ask confirmation to @davelab6
Cheers! Rosalie
