Aditi5926 patch 2

Open aditi5926 opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

Why:

Problem I faced maybe the same problem many users might be facing.

  • As sometimes user may be confused why their contributions are not counted, when they fork some repository but if any issue happens he/she might have to delete that repository and create the fork again. We don't get our contributions counted for the deleted repository.
  • This should be mentioned in this doc clearly stating this rule as well that they don't count this as contribution.

Hi @aditi5926—thanks for your submission and interest in the GitHub docs, but unfortunately we can't accept the content changes here.

We don't actually count contributions to forks. You'll note that earlier in the same article in question, we state "The commits were made in a standalone repository, not a fork" as one of the requirements.

We'd encourage you to open an issue in future if you're not sure about a submission, so we can discuss changes beforehand. You can also take a look at issues marked "help wanted" under https://github.com/github/docs/issues

Thanks again for your interest in the GitHub docs!
