fwupdmgr not working "Failed to connect to daemon'
Please confirm there isn't an open report for this issue

Summary
fwupdmgr get-updates Failed to connect to daemon: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NameHasNoOwner: Could not activate remote peer 'org.freedesktop.fwupd': startup job failed
I used to be able to manually fetch updates. Now I cannot.
I did every debugging and log known to man here: https://discuss.getsol.us/d/11835-speaking-of-fwupd
Identical errors at github: https://github.com/fwupd/fwupd/issues/8251 (thanks harvey) looks like success rate for version 2.13 is around 50%...
We are a couple versions behind according to my research.
Thank you all.
Steps to reproduce
fwupdmgr get-updates
Expected result
Expected to see the usual output 1) [there are updates to install] or 2 [no firmware updates available.]
Actual result
fwupdmgr get-updates Failed to connect to daemon: GDBus.Error:org.freedesktop.DBus.Error.NameHasNoOwner: Could not activate remote peer 'org.freedesktop.fwupd': startup job failed

Can confirm the commandfwupdmgr get-updatesworks in my backup Endeavour, and its service active and loaded in systemctl.
Neither of these (command or service) work on Solus yet. I wonder if there is any investigation I can do.
ping @silkeh
I've updated fwupd to 2.0.13 in b997cc8ee7037c3e668ce502a0b41285e1c5e3de, it will be included in the next sync. Let's see if that fixes the issue for you. We can do some more investigation if it does not.

**not an emergency by any stretch; backup OS has this covered (edit)
@brent111: can you try to start it again using sudo systemctl start fwupd and paste the output of sudo journalctl -b0 -u fwupd.service --no-pager? In addition, do you have a core dump of the crash? (coredumpctl list should show you).
re-start failed; here are all 3 outputs, thank you.

@brent111, @androidnisse: fwupd was updated to v2.0.14 yesterday. Does that update resolve the issue for you?

I get the same error too.

@silkeh - fwupd core dumping is bad. Is there anything we can do here, or does this need to be handled by fwupd?
I see there's a new release 2.0.17, fresh off the presses yesterday
I've just updated fwupd to 2.0.17 in unstable, so it should be included in the next sync.
If the issue persists I would appreciate a coredump from someone affected. It can be extracted using coredumpctl. For example:
coredumpctl dump /usr/lib64/fwupd/fwupd/fwupd | zstd > fwupd.dump.zst
That should hopefully include enough information to find out if this is a Solus issue or an upstream issue.
I've just pushed a build to unstable that should fix this issue thanks to a coredump I received on Matrix. If you are on polaris (stable), please use the following command to install the updated package:
sudo eopkg install https://shared.getsol.us/silke/fwupd-2.0.17-37-1-x86_64.eopkg
And let me know if this resolves this issue for you.
