Git repo not detected over SSH after latest Cursor update

Open nico-espinosadice opened this issue 10 months ago • 3 comments

After updating Cursor IDE on 2025-04-09, the Git repository in my remote SSH workspace no longer shows up in the Source Control tab. This previously worked without issues in earlier versions.

What works:

  • SSH connection to the remote server is successful.
  • The .git/ folder exists at the root of the project.
  • Git commands (e.g., git status, git add, git commit) work manually in the terminal.
  • VS Code detects the repository correctly when connected to the same remote via SSH.
  • Cursor detects the repo correctly when opened locally.

What does not work:

  • Cursor does not show the Git repository in the Source Control tab when connected via SSH.

Details:

  • Cursor version: 0.48.8
  • VSCode Version: 1.96.2
  • Remote OS Linux
  • Remote shell: Conda environment with bash
  • Git is installed and available in the remote environment
  • This issue started immediately after the latest Cursor update

Exactly the same issue on my side, as of today.

Edit: sometimes it work, sometimes it doesn't.... but definitely the same issue.

Same issue after update to

I can see a lot of errors during load of extensions:

Cannot redefine property: Symbol(nodejs.util.promisify.custom)

I was using Early access version, so I reverted back to "Default" and it works again.
