customize icons shown in the top menu

How can I remove some of the icons shown in the top menu?

I am happy to recompile fbreader, if that is necessary. I am using 0.12.10 on Debian

There are way too many icons there, the icons don't have intuitive symbols, and I always have to look for the right one.

I would like to simplify the menu by removing the useless icons.

We may go to /usr/share/pixmaps/FBReader/ to manually substitute the icons with meaningful ones?
