Align auto-generated citation format with the GBIF.org website
This issue was raised during the latest session of the technical support hour for nodes.
It would make sense if the auto-generated citation in the IPT matched the auto-generated citation on GBIF.org: https://www.gbif.org/faq?question=how-is-the-dataset-citation-text-auto-generated
Thanks Marie.
As far as I know they were aligned as much as possible not so long ago. Do you mean they should be exactly the same?
The difference currently is the ending.
GBIF:
Occurrence dataset https://doi.org/10.21373/123456 accessed via GBIF.org on 2024-04-15.
IPT:
Occurrence dataset https://ipt.gbif-uat.org/resource?r=test-resource-ipt&v=1.0
One of the issues is that GBIF citation is not applicable for non-registered resources.
Thanks @mike-podolskiy90 I don't think we can add a DOI in the IPT citation. It make sense to align the authors listed, dataset title, year of publication, etc. I will close the issue. Thanks!
I think they are still different, because the IPT does not include some contacts from the Associated parties with a role (originator and metadata provider as far as I know) that GBIF add to the final cite. I did a test in the IPT 3.0.2 with this dataset IPT test GBIF and UAT GBIF, this is the final cite in GBIF:
And this is the autogenerated cite in the IPT, that is missing Geocol and Sanchez Rodriguez K A:
The auto-generated cite in the IPT should include the same contacts that in GBIF
Thanks @EstebanMH-SiB I'll have a look
This will be included in the EML 2.2.0 update
