Instead of silently not working, something should be said when trying to set the view distance lower than the simulation distance.

Perhaps it should lower the simulation distance to match the new view distance with a --force command parameter or something. With a prompt to use the parameter if the user tries to set it to a value that won't work without first setting the simulation distance lower.
