Different options by user?
Hi!
First, great set of tools. One of my issues is the lack of being able to give different users different sets of options in the same option list. Example:
Option list 123
- Option group A
- Option A1
- Option A2
- Option group B
- Option B1
- Option B2
It would be great if you could set client option visibility by single options or groups. For example user X sees only options from Group A, and user Y from Group B.
Feasible? Any existing workarounds? Thanks, Mat
Interesting. No, I'm afraid option lists are really pretty basic: there isn't any option to fine-tune what each user sees, beyond creating custom lists and assigning them separately. This is perfectly doable, of course, but means multiple fields each with a different option list, plus probably different Views to only contain one of them... all very hacky.
Sorry I couldn't be much help. I'll put this down as a feature request so I don't lose it.
Thanks Ben, I guess that's the way I'll have to go or hope you can develop that fast enough. ;)
BTW, I've tried another approach (doesn't work as well) which could possibly be more easily modified to fit this purpose. I've created another form and populated it with all option list values and user group name in another column. I filtered the view with a client map filter by the user group so the user only sees those options in the form. I've then used the option column as a drop-down in another form thinking it would filter correctly but it doesn't, it shows all options. Even if this had worked, I would have lost the ability to group options.
I have two user groups - Admin and Volunteers - group provide rides to medical patients. Admin Option list is Pending - Open - Taken - Complete - Canceled Volunteers should only be able to see/edit Open - Taken Admin and Volunteers have seperate Views and I REALLY need to stop Volunteers from wrong editing. Did the added feature ever get created ? Derek - Houston Ground Angels - www.groundangels.org
