background image in front of text?

While selecting the image option in reader background, its been layered in front of page text instead of behind completely obstructing it.

Page images should be layered behind.

It seems to me like the text is layered on top but it has white background itself.

But regardless of what's the case it really doesn't look good because it looks washed out.

It would be really nice to have black letters on fully opaque custom background.
